Doncaster date for Pricks, one-woman show about about diabetes
Actress Jade Byrne is determined to set the record straight about type 1 diabetes with her new show, Pricks.
She’s had more than 70,000 pricks of the medical kind. She’s not bankrupting the NHS.
And she can eat cake, a whole cake if she wants to.
At 33 years old, Jade has been an actress for nine years, appearing in shows such as Inspector George Gently, Casualty and Mount Pleasant, and a type 1 diabetic for the past 30.
In her one-woman show, Jade tells a warm, engaging and uplifting story with poetry and an original soundscape about families and learning to care for others better.
Jade said: “I want everyone to experience Pricks and be affected by it, in a good way.
“I want to be able to educate through entertainment about what type 1 diabetes actually is and I want the entire world to see it.
“I love seeing the reaction from the audience at shows and it is a great night out.
“It’s funny, but will make a lot of people cry, happy tears as it’s everything I’d like myself from a theatre show.”
Pricks is at Cast in Doncaster on Tuesday, May 28 at 7.15pm. To book tickets, call 01302 303 959 or go online at castindoncaster.com
