Classic murder drama made famous by Hitchcock on stage

This stage drama was made famous by the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock film starring Ray Milland and Grace Kelly.

The plot centres on ex-professional tennis player Tony Wendice, who is planning to murder his socialite wife, Sheila, who he suspects of having an affair.

He thinks he’s arranged the

perfect murder when he blackmails a former college acquaintance to do his dirty work for

him.

However, the carefully-orchestrated scheme goes awry and he must use all his cunning to cover up his deceit in one of theatre’s most scintillating battle of wits.

It’s one of those shows with plenty of twists and turns aimed at keeping the audience firmly on the edge of their seats.

This production stars a host of famous faces – Oliver Mellor, seen as Dr Matt Carter in Coronation Street, Marcus Hutton, who played Nathan Cuddington in 
Liverpool soap Brookside and Terri Dwyer, well known as Ruth Osborne from Hollyoaks.

The play is a celebrated masterpiece of suspense and was first performed in 1952 on BBC Television before transferring to the

London stage.

The producers of this version are the acclaimed theatre company Talking Scarlet.

They brought well-received productions of Sherlock Holmes and the Ripper Murders and Ghost

Train to Buxton recently.
