Car Park Comedy: Sheffield FlyDSA Arena car park to stage live show
Sheffield’s iconic Last Laugh Comedy Club, the longest running comedy club in the north which had made its weekend home at Sheffield City Hall, will be staged in the Arena car park on Saturday, August 22.
But the audience won’t be watching from their cars – they can book a pod for four, five, or six people and will be invited to bring along camping chairs to sit in an assigned social distanced space in the car park.
It will be hosted by Sheffield favourite Nina Gilligan, featuring Junior Simpson, BGT’s Steve Royle and, from Phoenix Nights, Justin Moorhouse.

Last Laugh Comedy Club supremo Toby Foster and his team have lined up the star-studded night of stand-up comedy for laughter starved South Yorkshire folk
Today he quipped: “We always knew that we would play The Arena, we just didn’t think that it would be the car park!”.
He said of comedy: “We’re an emergency service. Sheffield needs to laugh again, so I spoke to Sheffield City Trust, mates at The Arena and the police and the council. They have all been incredibly supportive, so we are on for fun and games.
“We’ll be sat outside, socially distanced in our bubbles. We’ll be ordering our drinks and snacks in advance and spraying the loos down after every little wee. We’ll be so COVID safe, and just enjoying the fact that we are out!
“We have the best audiences in the country, we know that and it is a pleasure to be with you.
"However, on this occasion we will be strict, so any anti social behaviour will not be tolerated and people mis behaving will be asked to leave. We know that this won't be an issue, let's all just have a great laugh. We're ready for it, and we bet you are too.”
No gazebos, umbrellas, windbreaks or such will b e allowed and people must book with those who are in their social bubble, as set out by the government.
No bags larger than A4 will be allowed. This is non negotiable.
Before the event, whoever made the booking will be contacted with a menu for alcoholic and soft drinks and snacks. These will be ordered and paid for and when you arrive on the evening - drinks will be in an ice bucket in the pod. There will also be hand sanitiser and a black bag to use for rubbish.
Toilets will be available and sanitised between use.
