Billy Bragg to perform live stream concert in support of Sheffield's Leadmill
and live on Freeview channel 276
Bragg will host a live stream at 8pm on his Facebook page this Saturday (16 May) to support the venue where he held a sold-out three-night residency just last year.
The Leadmill, which celebrated it’s fortieth birthday last month, previously auctioned off items of memorabilia to raise much-needed funds after it was forced to temporary close due to lockdown. A signed Arctic Monkeys guitar fetched £7,200 as part of the sale.

Hide AdSaturday’s show will raise money for the iconic Sheffield venue through the Music Venue Trust Crisis Fund’s #SaveOurVenues campaign, which has been set up to help the UK’s grassroots venues that closed on March 23rd and ensure they are able to re-open when it is safe to do so. It aims to prevent the potential closure of hundreds of independent music venues.
So far, more than £3,600 has been raised for the Leadmill, with a target of £10,000.
The venue has continued to champion live music with a string of live-streamed gigs throughout lockdown, including a show from George Waite, the singer in former Sheffield band The Crookes.
"We've had some amazing shows with Billy over the years at The Leadmill, and we were really fortunate to host 3 sold out shows with him last year," a spokesperson for the venue said.
