It’s one of the many innovative and fun digital activities launched for people to have fun while staying safe at home during the coronavirus lockdown.

Barnsley Museums’ four other sites – Experience Barnsley, Elsecar Heritage Centre, Cannon Hall Museum and Worsbrough Mill – will be joining in with the puzzles and other ideas to capture people’s imagination and keep everyone entertained, including brand new 360 degree interactive virtual tours.

Its online jigsaw puzzles, as well as testing people’s brain power, have also offer an insight into wonderful works of art – featuring some of the paintings and drawings collected over the past 100-years at the town centre Cooper Gallery.

Barnsley Museums will also give people the chance to solve jigsaws inspired by its other amazing buildings, beautiful treasures and library of photographs of famous Barnsley characters and events.

Plans are being drawn up for special online jigsaw competitions in May.

Coun Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place (Regeneration and Culture) said: “In these unusual and difficult times Barnsley Museums want to bring joy and excitement direct to people’s homes.

“These free online, digital jigsaws will not only raise a smile but also highlight the magnificent collection which The Cooper Gallery is proud to display.

“There will be lots more interesting and enjoyable activities coming from Barnsley Museums so keep an eye on their digital channels to find out more.”
