John explained it was a way of off-setting the effects of the virus which has brought live concerts to a temporary standstill.

He said: " From the beginning of March my diary was completely decimated - with noi live events for the rest of the year.

"We have to be as creative as we can to keep going.

"We have got a really good following in Sheffield and people are really looking after musicians and buying tickets to watch them online. So we came up with this idea.

"For the foreseeable future this is the way we have got to go."

New single Amazing Life is a celebration of inspirational life milestones.

John's intensely personal vocal and lyric are wrapped in the sweeping anthemic rollercoaster of co-writer Lewis's arrangement with weighty atmospheric piano and strings leading to a powerful, passionate vocal.

It is all the more poignant set against the current global crisis.

John added: "In most people's living memory there has not been a time such as now, where literally worldwide and simultaneously, humanity has been focused on how precious life is."

He helped to raise £170,000 with his performances and song Women of Steel, co written with John Parr and Grammy Award winning producer Eliot Kennedy which culminated in a major statue in the centre of Sheffield honouring the women who worked in the steel Industry during both wars.

John performed the song on the BBC1 show The People Remember and is now writing the screenplay for The Women of Steel story.
