His new stand-up show – called Not Again, Alan! – is visiting 57 venues around the UK, including Sheffield City Hall on Wednesday, September 16.

The tour is billed as a chance to see Carr as he ‘muses upon the things that make his life weird and wonderful’.

“It's been four years since Alan last went on tour, and in that time he's managed to find himself in all sorts of dramas,” a press release announcing the dates said.

“Between his star-studded wedding day and becoming an accidental anarchist, from fearing for his life at border control to becoming a reluctant farmer, three words spring to mind… not again, Alan!”

For several years Carr hosted his own Channel 4 chat show, Chatty Man. More recently he has fronted Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow on ITV, as well as acting as a judge on the first series of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK.

He last appeared at the City Hall in 2015 – prior to that he performed at Sheffield Arena on an ambitious tour of the country’s biggest indoor venues.

Having frequently been described as a ‘camp’ comedian, Carr told The Guardian in 2012 that he ‘wouldn't change himself for the world’. “It's made me a lot of money, being this camp,” he said.

Tickets for Not Again, Alan! are on sale now priced £30. Purchases may be subject to an extra fee. The show starts at 8pm. See to book.
