Apartments bid inspection

COUNCILLORS are to inspect the site of a proposed apartment block in Darnall to see for themselves if the application is acceptable for the location.

Sheffield Council’s City Centre, South and East Planning and Highways Area Board agreed to hold a site visit to land formerly occupied by the Darnall Medical Aid Society charity, at the junction of Fisher Lane and Ronald Road.

Developers want to build a block of apartments, and three houses with garages.

A previous application, withdrawn in May, for 12 apartments and parking led to a 169-name petition of protest.

The latest application has led to three letters of objection, as well as a letter from Attercliffe MP Clive Betts, raising concerns from a local constituent.

Sheffield Council planning officers are recommending the plan be approved, subject to a number of conditions.
