Action, lights, camera as students focus on MTV competition

A NUMBER one hit has been given a new look thanks to a video backing track created by a group of Sheffield pupils.

Youngsters from Abbeydale Grange School produced a full length video for the recent Kanye West chart topper Stronger for an annual MTV competition.

The team have entered the contest for the third year running - in previous years the school was the only one in Yorkshire to win awards in the 11 to 14 age range category.

The new video was shot as a summer school project at a range of locations, including underwater footage filmed at the Ponds Forge swimming pool in the city centre.

It was entered for the MTV Boom Academy Awards after a celebration ceremony featuring a range of video work produced by pupils which was held at the school itself.

The young directors behind the video were Mohammed Hadji, Mohra Al Yafei, Sarah Phillips, Peshawa Ghaffour, Tommie Somerset-Greaves and Rosie Somerset-Greaves, with input from the school's IT manager Simon Bell.
