Former Aston Villa youngster Andre Green, a free agent having left the Premier League club in the summer, is set to join the Hillsborough club according to reports.
His last manager, Villa boss and former Wednesday defender Dean Smith, was an admirer of Green’s attributes but struggled to settle him into his side after the club’s promotion to the top tier.

Hide AdThe 22-year-old former England youth international, who has represented the Three Lions at every age level from under-16 to under-20, was sent out on loan three times by Smith most recently to Charlton Athletic where he scored two goals in 13 matches.
Having burst onto the scene at his boyhood club, Green fell out of favour and was initially loaned out to Portsmouth in 2019 before he was recalled. He also spent a short time at Preston. Villa chose not to exercise an extension clause in his contract last year.
Speaking after his Portsmouth recall in 2019, Smith, who played 55 times for the Owls under Christ Turner, said: “He is a talented footballer and I have the opportunity to bring him back.
“He has qualities that I like to see in a young footballer. He has come through the system. He is quick and a goalscorer. All of those ingredients prompted me to bring him back.
