Liam Shaw's continued Sheffield Wednesday absence explained

Wednesday’s players certainly responded well on the field despite any uncertainty that there may be off of it, and Liam Palmer insists that they do understand how tough it is for businesses given the ongoing global pandemic.

Speaking to the media after the game, Palmer said, “That’s something that’s above, you know. There are talks with the chairman and advisors and things. That’ll get resolved, we can appreciate that it’s a really tough time for businesses, and as players we’ve got a lot of compassion for that. We’ll keep doing our job as best we can.”

But does it affect the players at all?

“I can only speak for myself really,” he explained. “I’m fortunate that I’m at a club that I love. I’ve been here a long time, and I’ll always give my all – regardless. I do it because I enjoy it, the money side of it isn’t really something that drives me.

“Everybody is different, but I think as a group it’s been dealt with brilliantly. It helps when you get a good result, because it just gets rid of any doubt that it’s because of payment. We’ve shown today, and before, that it doesn’t faze us really.”
