Water bottles handed out after burst water main cuts supplies in Doncaster village

Emergency water supplies have been dished out to residents of several Doncaster villages following a huge water main burst.

People in Askern, Campsall and Norton have been advised to collect fresh water supplies following the incident which began causing problems for residents on Friday.

Yorkshire Water tweeted: “No water/low pressure due to a burst main.

“We are on-site dealing with the problem. We will update as soon as we have more information.

Yesterday, Yorkshire Water said it was looking at bringing in water from other areas, tweeting: “We are still working on a valve in order to re-route the water supply from a different area. Extremely sorry about the loss of supply over the last two days and thanks a lot for your patience.”

Water collection points have been set up in the car park near Askern Lake and on Moss Road.

Users are reminded to wear face masks and maintain social distancing when collecting supplies.
