National Highways issues update after Woodhead Pass closure
National Highways have issued a new update on the Woodhead Pass, a major trans Pennine route between Sheffield and Manchester, after it’s closure last night.
The road was closed because of the weather conditions last night, and remained closed into this morning (February 19) as snow hit high ground on the Pennines.
National Highways since issued at midday today.

The update said: “The road has now fully reopened.”

The A628 Woodhead Pass had previously closed in both directions between the A616 (Flouch) and the A57 (Hollingworth) due to weather conditions.
At 9.30am, when The Star first contacted National Highways, they explained: “A review of the conditions has taken place this morning.
“There is some flooding in areas of the A628 which is being cleared and treated. Once all clear, plans will be made to re-open the road.”
