It took just five minutes for the visitors to go in front, through Serge Aurier after some poor defending at a corner and then Harry Kane latched onto sloppy play in the midfield from Oliver Norwood to double the advantage.

It came just a few days after United picked up their first win of the season agaisnt Newcastle to lift the spirits and raise hopes that they might beat the drop and Roy Keane ripped into the Blades during his half time analysis, in which he said he ‘can’t believe’ how bad United were in the opening 45 minutes.

"I can't believe what I'm watching, really," he said on Sky Sports. "I think the one thing that I wouldn't throw at these players, you always think they are a decent group and they'll have a go, but I can't believe how bad they've been.

"Obviously a goal own after five minutes, real lack of quality which we know, a lack of creativity, you think they'd be a bit upbeat after their result the other night but looking at them today and their points total and everything else that is behind this team, they could go down as one of the worst teams ever to have played in the Premiership. I can’t believe what I'm watching, I can't believe how bad they've been."
