Britain's sprint cyclists and their coaches have grown moustaches in the lead-up to the Rio Olympics. Sir Bradley Wiggins had to shave off his beard in June 2015 ahead of his Hour Record attempt on advice from the aerodynamics experts. But it is uncertain whether Phil Hindes, Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner will shave their moustaches before Thursday's opening day of action in the velodrome. Coach Justin Grace's 'tache is the most flourishing of the lot.

East Sussex-based eventer Camilla Kruger will make Olympic equestrian history this weekend - for Zimbabwe. Kruger, 29, was born in Zimbabwe and grew up riding her grandfather's former racehorses in the African bush, and she now becomes her country's first Olympics competitor in any equestrian discipline. "The whole experience feels incredibly surreal," she said. "It is quite emotional as well, because it has been a lifelong dream to get here. All my family is Zimbabwean, I am Zimbabwean, and I am very passionate about my country."

Chris Froome looks set to crash out of Saturday's road race after 46 kilometres - at least according to the Rio 2016 app. Irish rider Dan Martin tweeted Froome to inform the three-time Tour de France winner of a screenshot he took which appeared to show the app predicting the future. There was no indication of who would win the race but Martin may have already got into his Team GB rival's head.
