World of Sport: Tom Daley takes bronze, Inbee Park wins Women’s British Open, new doping scandal for athletics
Tom Daley took his second medal of the World Aquatics Championships, with a men’s 10m platform bronze.
The British star last won an individual World Championship medal in 2009.
“I’m really happy with that bronze because I did make it as hard as possible for myself,” he said.
His other medal, a gold, came in the team event with Rebecca Gallantree.
Women’s golf world number one Inbee Park claimed her seventh major title by seeing off fellow South Korean Ko Jin-young to win the Women’s British Open at Turnberry.
The 27-year-old won by three shots and told BBC Sport: “It feels great, this is something I have been dreaming of all my life
“I finally reached my goal. It’s just a relief. I’m so happy with everything.”
Athletics has been hit with a fresh doping scandal.
The Sunday Times published data from 5,000 athletes, leaked by a whistleblower at the International Association of Athletics Federation.
It is claimed the data shows an ‘extraordinary extent of cheating.’
International Olympics Committee president Thomas Bach says he will act with zero tolerance should the claims to proven true.
