Wilson steers to second win

MOTORSPORT: STEFAN Wilson took his second Formula 3 National Class win of the season at the track that sorts the men from the boys - the awesome Spa–Francorchamps circuit.

For rounds 15 and 16, the British Formula 3 Intern-ational Series moved to the technically-challenging Belgian Spa–Francorchamps circuit, with Sheffield's ex-Birkdale School pupil Wilson looking to use his talent to the maximum.

Fourth in class, Wilson was flying and caught and passed the three cars ahead with ease at the fast Les Combes corner.

He took the lead with five laps to go, grabbing his second win of the year.

Round 16 looked set to be more of the same for Wilson, qualifying in third, but he was delayed by an opening lap incident at the first corner.

The National Class top two broke away, but Wilson caught them within five laps.

But then unexpectedly, Wilson started to lose top speed, dropping back steadily to fifth place when a brake cooling duct fell apart and became an impromptu air brake.
