ARMTHORPE got their Doncaster Bowls Association Over 60s Doubles League Division One campaign off to a winning start with an 84-41 victory over Rossington.
Bernie Birchall and Brian Barrett (21-7) and Richard Commons and Keith Huckerby (21-8) were the pick of Armthorpe’s winners.
Dave Thornton and Norman Clowes (21-2) starred for Pilks Rec in their 79-53 win over Askern Welfare.
Albert Dudill and Derek Brookes (21-7) were the best winners for Roundwood in their 84-46 success over Adwick.
Parklands got an excellent start thanks to Liz Hall and Ken Ramsay (21-5), but Westfield Park won all the remaining games, with Sid Price and Eric Bubb (21-9) clinching a narrow 68-66 victory at the death. Bawtry posted a 77-67 victory at Yorkshire Main.
Jack Jones and Keith Bullock and Margaret Smith and Ted Owens both won 21-8 for Bawtry A in their 79-48 victory over Roundwood.
Ron Perry and Alvin Langham carded a 21-8 win for Adwick B in their 76-61 Division Two victory over Hexthorpe.
Last pair Ken Strutt and Ray Wyatt (21-7) won the match (70-63) for Bentley Colliery at home to Brodsworth Welfare.
Joe Taylor and Maureen Howe (21-8) were Thorne’s only winning pair, with a 21-6 succss by Colin Harris and Ken Fishwick sealing a 71-64 victory for Rossington B.
Lynda Bradbury and Tom Gatiss (21-9) and Moira Robb and John Marshall (21-7) featured for Tickhill in their 65-58 victory over Pilks Pensioners, who were well served by John Peters and Keith Lowndes (21-5).
John Peters and Keith Lowndes (21-1) were Pilks Pensioners’ best pairing in their 84-49 win over Bentley Colliery.
Bawtry B have withdrawn from Division Two due to a shortage of players.
