JOHN Laycock and Louise Walker both won 21-8 for Brodsworth in their 142-124 Doncaster & District Bowls Association Over-60s League Division One win over Bawtry, for whom with Hazel Cuthbert won 21-7 right at the end.

Askern’s clean sweep of winners in their 168-97 rout of Adwick, included Roy Tomlinson (21-4) and Eddie Curtis (21-7). John Williams (21-7) and Ralph Yates (21-9) both featured in Yorkshire Main’s 149-112 win at Carcroft. Eddie Hailes (21-2) gave Hexthorpe a good start, but they couldn’t hang on to it and last man Eric Cullingworth confirmed victory (142-122) for Eden Grove-Peglers with his 21-9 win.

Alan Brown (21-8) and Maurice Mortlock (21-9) both won well for Adwick B but Parklands B snatched their Division Three game by a single point thanks to wins from Brian Harvey (21-5) and Eric Royston (21-4). Eric Day won 21-8 for Yorkshire Main B but John Dean (21-9) and Frances Ceaser (21-5) helped secure Mexborough B a 140-122 success. Parklands B lost 153-140 at home to Thorne.

Tommy Edwards (21-5) and Roy Leese (21-6) were the best winners for Pilks Pensioners in their 163-114 victory over Adwick B. Richard Commons and Barry Bentley (21-3) were the only winners for Armthorpe as Don Howe and Eddie Curtis (21-8) shone for Askern in their 66-44 Over-60s Doubles League Division One success. Ken Sanders and Archie Hughes (21-4) were the best pairing for Rossington in their 84-48 victory over Parklands. Last pair Louise and Enoch Walker (21-8) earned Brodsworth a 68-66 Division Two win at Pilks Pensioners.

Roy Walker and Joe Taylor (21-9) and Jean Walker and Cec Fowler (21-6) were the best of Thorne’s four winning pairs in their 84-48 victory over Tickhill.
