WAKO - it will be a cracker!

SHEFFIELD'S Octagon Centre will again play host to a night of WAKO kickboxing action on Friday, August 31.

The night will consist of ten fights, two of which will be title fights - a World Association of Kickboxing Organisations title and a British Freestyle Karate Kickboxing Organisation title.

Headlining the night will be Sheffield's Alex McKenzie fighting against Lee Livesey, from Blackpool, and another Steel City fighter, Shane Beard, will be competing for a title.

Other champions from all over the country will come to the Octagon Centre, and the night will also feature a female fight.

The event, which is being covered by Channel 4, is the second of its kind after a highly successful event last year and as organiser Hussain Shafique believes this year's event will be a similar success with an anticipated crowd of 1,500.

The winner of the British title will challenge a French champion for the European title, and another Sheffield fighter and previous British Champion Scott Sykes is on the bill for the event.
