Under 15s start with lot of merit

ROTHERHAM under 15s made a winning start to their season, beating Barnsley 3-1 in a Northern Merit League game at Swinton Comprehensive School.

ROTHERHAM under 15s made a winning start to their season, beating Barnsley 3-1 in a Northern Merit League game at Swinton Comprehensive School.

The first half was evenly contested but Rotherham edged ahead after 25 minutes with a Nathan Clark half volley.

Rotherham made a dream start to the second half and they increased their lead with a close range strike from Connor Wilbourne before Aaron Tate reduced the arrears with a fine headed goal five minutes later.

Rotherham continued to press forward and they put the game beyond Barnsley with a third goal from Sam Smith, 10 minutes from time.

Barnsley under 14s made amends defeating Rotherham 5-2 at Rawmarsh School.Barnsley took the lead after just five minutes from Joe Bywater.

Rotherham came back strongly and they levelled the scores midway through the first half with a Liam Roles goal and he added a second on the stroke of half-time to earn his side a slim 2-1 advantage.

The second half belonged to Bransley and they quickly levelled the scores with a second Bywater strike before edging ahead with a Ben Severn goal.Severn grabbed his second of the game for a 4-2 lead before Jack Butler fired home.

Barnsley under 12s disappointed going down 3-2 to Derby. They were trailing after 14 minutes but it back toequalise a minute later through Jake Draftz.

Derby went into a 3-1 lead in the second half before Lewis Lunn grabbed Barnsleys second late on.
