Triple joy for Eagles

NEW deals have been agreed that will keep three of Sheffield Eagles' most effective forwards at the club next season.

Back rowers Ged Corcoran, Adam Hayes and Dale Holdstock have played a big part in ensuring National League One status.

"I'm trying to keep a large percentage of the squad together - they are all at the right sort of age and have the best years in front of them," said coach Mark Aston.

"Forwards don't really find their feet until they get to their late twenties so these lads have years in front of them.

"You build the team round a solid pack and need people who can organise and set up tries."

Corcoran joined the Eagles from Oldham and Hayes from Halifax at the start of this season.

Holdstock came from Halifax for the final games of the Eagles push to promotion last year.

"Ged and Dale have had a bit of time out with injury but they've shown that they are capable of handling this level and making us a stronger team," said Aston.

"They are competitors, winners and we've delighted they are staying at the club."

Loose-forward Hayes has rebuilt his career at Don Valley after a difficult spell at Halifax.

Aston added; "People have always felt Adam had talent but this season he has stepped back up because last year he wasn't playing week in and week out at Halifax.

"There's a lot more in Adam - he's got a great off-load game and on the back of that we have scored tries."

James Morrow, who turned professional the Eagles this season while still a student at Sheffield Hallam University, has agreed a new contract.

Back rower Morrow has progressed well and played in three first team games this season.
