Tough start

LACROSSESheffield Steelers have been handed a tough start to the new Men's North of England League.

The Abbeydale Sports Club have been drawn away to Manchester Waconians A in their first match in Division Two on September 29.

Relegated from the Premier last season after just three wins from 18 matches, the South Yorkshire side then face Manchester-based side Boardman and Eccles in their first home match on October 6.

"We were disappointed to be relegated last season, but we've recruited well over the summer and feel as though we've got a squad strong enough to go straight back into the Premier," said club skipper Simon Firth-Jones.

"It's going to be important to keep everybody fit, but we're a lot stronger than we were last year. The standard is also a lot higher in the Premier , so I think some of the players will make more of an impression in this division."
