Top league may deduct clubs points

ONE of the region's top cricket leagues could be considering deducting clubs points in a possible overhaul of their disciplinary system.

The South Yorkshire League has gone from strength to strength in recent years but there is some concern over incidents of ill-discipline, mainly involving individuals, some of them in isolated incidents.

Last Saturday, four players - two understood to be from the Premier Division - were put on report by umpires making it the highest number of disciplinary matters reported from a single Saturday this season.

The League has power to issue lengthy bans, as they did following incidents of assault at the start of this season when two players received bans of a year and more. However, the League is now believed to be considering looking at broadening their disciplinary scope.
