Tigers chief wants fans to help dethrone King's

SHEFFIELD Tigers owner Neil Machin wants to see the Owlerton terraces packed for their Premier League play-off semi-final against King's Lynn on Thursday.

They need a big lead against the reigning champions to take to Norfolk Arena for the second leg on Wednesday week, October 10.

Machin insists the riders and staff are cautiously optimistic about their chances going into the tie - despite being on the wrong end of some heavy defeats by the Stars in recent times.

"Their form appears to have dipped a little in recent weeks and it's up to us to try and capitalise on that," said Machin.

"But we know what we're up against and, on their day, they can beat anybody and we need to be on top of our game without a doubt.

"It will take a massive effort by everybody concerned. We need the fans to turn out in force to get behind the boys, if the riders see the terraces packed it will be a big boost to them and this, ultimately, is our biggest meeting of the season so far.

"I know there are some supporters and experts within the sport who have given us no chance. It's up to us to prove them wrong and ensure we take a handy lead for the return. I'm full of admiration for the way they have maintained a successful team after winning the league last season. Like us, they had to shed riders to get back under the points limit and they got it right.

"All our lads are fired up for this and we'll be giving it everything we've got."
