THE BOOKIES VIEW - What price Blades and Owls being in the same division?

A bloke wrote to us the other day and asked us to price up whether Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday would play each other in the same division next season.

I must admit it was a good suggestion, so here we go.

The Blades are 11/4 to be relegated and 1/4 to stay in the Championship.

The Owls are 3/1 to be promoted and 2/9 to stay in League One.

With a little bit of mathematics we came up with these odds. 6/4 that they will meet, and 1/2 that they will not.

It's up to you now to decide what will happen.

We have also priced up United's finishing position in the Championship. We make it 6/4 that they finish 17th or worse, and 1/2 that they finish in 16th spot or better.

And what about Wednesday's finishing position in League One?

It is 4/6 that they finish fifth or above and 11/10 that they finish in sixth place or below.

Wednesday have a big match in Saturday away to Leyton Orient, and it is one of those matches that the Owls have to win to keep in touch with their playoff rivals.

We are a stand out price of 13/8, and I suspect that will get backed.

Doncaster Rovers continue to be a bit of an enigma.

They are now 7/1 to make the Top Six, and I thought they would be in a better position.

They are too inconsistent, and they could well turn up and destroy Ipswich on Saturday, but it's hard to put your cash down on them.

There is one bet that does look good this weekend. Swansea travel to Barnsley and they look a good bet at 6/5. That might seem an odd thing to say, but this is a decent team.

They are tight at the back, pass for fun and they could well have a field day on Saturday.

Finally just a quick word about last Sunday.

All four Premier League matches ended in draws and it cost us nearly a quarter of a million, and I have to say with all the derbies that didn't seem a long shot. The fourfold paid 100/1!

You see, bookies are nothing but generous!
