ANYONE for tennis?

Bessacarr-based Doncaster Lawn Tennis Club are hosting an Open Day on Sunday between 11am-1pm where potential members will be able to check out the Saxton Avenue premises free of charge

Said a club spokesman: “Members of the public can come along without any obligation to join on Sunday.

“We’ll show them the facilities, and the clubhouse and explain what happens at the club during the week, such as team tennis and social tennis where members play between themselves on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. That is often a good way for new members to get involved in club activities.”

As well as committee members, head coach John Willis will also be on hand to answer any questions on the club and he will be happy to discuss personal coaching and the various junior coaching squads.

He will also offer advice on rackets and tennis clothing.

“Anyone coming down on Sunday can use any of the courts for a free knock and we can provide the equipment if necessary,” he told The Star,

“There will also be a few fun competitions on the day for young and old.

“If anyone wants a few basics tips to get them started, then all they’ve got to do is ask me.”
