Sheffield’s Ellie Faulkner will use her World Championships experience at 200 metres and 400m to aid her in the 800m later this week in Barcelona.
Ponds Forge-based Faulker, aged 20, is an 800m specialist but competed in the shorter distances as a way of preparing for Friday’s heats.
She said: “It’s been good to get used to the atmosphere since Sunday and get used to everyone swimming, there have been some great swims up until now that I have been involved in,” said Faulkner.
“I definitely want to get a good swim under my belt in the 800m, a final would be great but it’s going to be tough against some of these girls. The 200m and 400m are almost bonus events but I would have loved to have qualified for them as well.”
