Sheffield Wednesday have been awarded The Special Award at tonight's Star Football Awards, recognising their upcoming 150th anniversary.
The award was presented by Atkinsons store manager David Cartwright, Richard Caborn MP and editor of The Star Nancy Fielder.
The award is presented to an individual, group or club in recognition of an incredible contribution to football in this area.
Sheffield Wednesday received the award this year as they prepare to celebrate a landmark anniversary.
Born as an offshoot of a cricket club at the Adelphi Hotel in September 1867, Wednesday went on to become one of the real giants of English football.
The club have had their fair share of highs and lows over the years.
Just a few short years ago there was a distinct possibility Wednesday would not reach their 150th anniversary, so close did they come to oblivion.
But now, they are close to achieving a promotion they have craved for 17 years and a chance to rejoin the top table in English football. They are on their way back.
