John Marquis has been awarded Doncaster Rovers Player of the Year at tonight's Star Football Awards.
The Star’s Rovers writer Liam Hoden, and Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Ferguson presented Marquis with the award.
Marquis clinched the award ahead of teammates James Coppinger and Jordan Houghton.
Arriving at Doncaster having endured several years of frustration with numerous loan spells, all Marquis wanted was a chance for regular football and the opportunity to show how strong he could be in front of goal.
With two games to go he has been a virtual ever-present in the side and has responded by netting 26 league goals, the most by any Rovers player in a single season for 51 years.
He endeared himself to supporters with tireless running and a workhorse attitude and made himself a star with his lethal touch in the box.
