Squash: Sheffield based Mick Matthew too much for Jan Anjema

Have your say

NICK Matthew moved into the semi-finals of the British Open later today after an accomplished performance last night at the O2 in London.

The Sheffield-based former world No 1 needed an hour to see off eighth seed Laurens Jan Anjema of Holland 4/11, 11/6, 11/5, 11/5.

After dropping the opening game, Matthew began to dominate to wrap up the victory. He told The Star: “He played so well at the start and I had to weather the storm big time for a game and a half then managed to come out on top in the third and the fourth games.”

Matthew will play France’s Greg Gaultier this evening for a place in tomorrow’s final (Sunday, May 20).
