Sheffield squash ace Nick Matthew believes that adjusting to the demands of being world No 1 have proven pivotal in his impressive form over the past 18 months.
Matthew landed top spot in the summer of 2010 and although he slipped back to second just three months later, he duly regained his No 1 status in January this year.
The 31-year-old said: “I found it tricky first time around as you feel you have to prove yourself to be the best every time you play.
“Now I have become accustomed to it and go by the mentality that if my career ended tomorrow, I would be happy.”
The double Commonwealth gold medallist has 21 tour titles to his name and bids to add to that this week in the Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Open.
