Top seed Nick Matthew faces reigning champion and old rival James Willstrop in the final of the Canary Wharf Classic tonight after defeating Miguel Angel Rodriguez.

The Sheffield ace, ranked number one in the world rankings, beat the Colombian, nicknamed the ‘Superman of squash’ for his outrageous full-length dives, 3-0 (11/4, 11/2, 11/9) at the East Wintergarden venue, in what was a repeat of last year’s first round match.

Matthew, a three-time world champion, has already beaten wildcard Alan Clyne and Omar Mosaad in the tournament and is odds on favourite to see off Willstrop in the decider.

Second seed Willstrop saw off his England teammate Peter Barker in his last four tussle.
