EMILIANO Sanchez insists he’s delighted to be back at Sheffield and a return to Owlerton was always his first choice for 2011.
Sanchez, the popular Argentinian, hasn’t raced for the club since 2007 after Tigers bought him from Hull. Now he’s raring to go and feels he can do a job for the team.
He said: “The home form is something I need to work on and I feel confident I can do that, starting on Thursday against Belle Vue.
“Last time I raced for Sheffield I feel I scored well for the team away from home so this time I want to do better around here and I feel I can do that.
“I cannot wait for the season to start, I feel well prepared and raring to go. I also like the way the Sheffield team has been put together and feel we look particularly strong, I feel we can have a very good and enjoyable season.”
The countdown is on to Thursday’s opener at Owlerton with Elite League Belle Vue side who are tipped for a play-off place in the top flight. Boss Eric Boocock said: “It’s a fantastic way for us to start the season and it would be a real scalp for us if we could win. Emiliano is a key element of the team and he will have a good season for us. The mood in the camp is excellent but, of course, we need to do the business on the track.”
