TIGERS owner Neil Machin says tonight’s National League double-header can go a long way to securing the club’s place in the play-offs.

The combined Sheffield and Scunthorpe team, who share their home meetings between the two venues, face the Isle of Wight Islanders at 7pm followed by Belle Vue Colts.

And Machin believes two wins to take all six points on offer would put them in a great position to make the top four and a shot at the title.

He said: “This is a big night for the team because we know two wins would be massive in the push for the play-offs.

“Our team manager, Stuart Parnaby, is so enthusiastic and he believes this team can win the league title and I see no reason to disagree with him.

“Our own Ashley Birks has been riding well of late and I’m sure he will be hard to beat on a night like tonight and the Worrall brothers are making good progress in the early stages of their career.

“Belle Vue are also in with a great chance of reaching the play-offs so they will come here determined to win and with riders like Kyle Howarth, Byron Bekker and Adam McKinna they are going to be a handful.”

Tigers are keen to remind fans they have pegged admission prices at the normal level for the meetings with 30 races to get through, starting at 7pm.

Said Machin: “We are relying on the excellent track staff we have here at Owlerton to help keep the meetings flowing with so many races to get through.

“And with two meetings for the price of one, we are hoping the fans will come along in numbers to show these young lads their support in the race for the play-offs.”
