Tigers hold no grudge against Rebels

Have your say

SHANE Parker insists he has no hard feelings towards Somerset Rebels as he prepares to face his former club for Tigers at Owlerton tonight (7.45).

Parker spent last season at the Oak Tree Arena and was an instant hit with the fans, but surprisingly during the winter he was left out of their 2011 team plans. They snapped up fellow Australian Travis McGowan who was looking for a new club because he found the travelling to Glasgow too much.

Now Parker is ready to come up against the Rebels for the first time since leaving and linking up with Sheffield.

“I have nothing to prove to anyone at this stage of my career,” said Parker. “I enjoyed my season with Somerset and there are a lot of good people associated with the club.

“I was naturally disappointed when I was told there was no room for me this year because I thought I might have been going back there and then my first priority was to get fixed up elsewhere and I can’t be happier to be with Sheffield. I was very fortunate to get fixed up quickly and I’m delighted to be spending my last season in British racing with the Tigers.”
