SHEFFIELD promoter Neil Machin has urged fans to get behind his team and pack out Owlerton for tomorrow’s meeting with Redcar.

The management team was disappointed with the attendance for last week’s home defeat to Workington and has launched a Kids for a Quid initiative for the Easter holidays. “There is no point in dressing it up, the crowd last week was bad” said Machin.

“Apparently the fuel situation put some people off and there was paranoia about that. We have always tried to run some kids’ promotions and over the next two weeks all under-16’s will gain entry for £1. It may not be for just two weeks, it depends what sort of reaction we get from it. We’ll monitor the attendance levels and act accordingly with a view to getting as many people watching the Tigers as we can” said Machin.

“In previous years we have let under-12’s in for free but after we sat down and did the figures, we decided that it wasn’t feasible any more. We have to make sure we are looking after the club first and foremost. However, it gives us more scope for promotions such as this one.”
