Speedway: Tigers chief urges fans to stay patient

Have your say

David Hoggart has issued a ‘don’t panic’ message to Tigers fans waiting for more team news.

And Hoggart has revealed how the new consortium taking over from long-serving promoter Neil Machin have made good progress behind the scenes.

The formal handover of the club is currently in the hands of solicitors but is expected to be completed in the next few days.

Co-promoter Hoggart said: “We’ve had to hold back on any public announcements really until everything is finalised in black and white.

“But we have been busy behind the scenes and good progress has been made on a number of issues, not just with the team.

“We so far have Simon Stead and Adam Roynon confirmed in the team but there are other riders who can make up a decent side for us.

“I know we are behind when it comes to making team announcements, but I would urge our supporters not to panic.

“I was very encouraged by a meeting of the STAARS group last Thursday, they do sterling work in supporting the riders with their mechanical expenditure and they were extremely positive about the new season.

“Hopefully by the weekend we will be in a position to say more on the situation and start announcing signings for the new season but in the meantime I would just ask all our supporters to stay patient.

“We are working on other aspects of the business like fixtures and I’ve had a very positive meeting with the stadium people who have been extremely helpful and supportive and there is a general togetherness at the club.

“We have options available for the team and hopefully some more good news will be revealed soon.”
