David Hoggart has moved to rally Tigers riders and fans after defeats at the hands of Redcar last week.
And the Sheffield co-promoter insists things aren’t as bad as some critics are making out after seeing the side reach the League Cup semi-finals already this season.
He also says the current team will be given time to get it right although the lower order are starting to come under scrutiny.
He said: “It’s not all bad’ for goodness sake we’re in the semi-finals of the Premier League Cup after coming through the group with Scunthorpe and Leicester, last year’s champions and the team expected by many to be this year’s. We also come back from the dead to beat Workington, who are also going to be title contenders.
“I think people have been too quick to forget that but it proves that we do have a team capable of upsetting the apple cart.
“Ricky Wells still has his critics but he scored 16 at Redcar and then paid 14 in the two away meetings before that – what more can you ask for from a heat leader?
“His form is getting stronger every week and once Richard [Hall] is back to fitness then we’ll have three very capable heat leaders.”
Tigers are without a home meeting tonight but travel to Somerset in Premier League action tomorrow.
