Sheffield Tigers have what it takes to beat Berwick in tonight’s Knockout Cup tie at Owlerton. That’s the view of co-promoter Damien Bates.
Tigers, who are sweating on the availability of Australian ace Ty Proctor because of a visa issue, are 18 points down following last weekend’s first leg.
But Bates says a good start and support for skipper Simon Stead will give them every chance of overturning the deficit.
He said: “Simon [Stead] was the ultimate professional and led the way for us but he didn’t have the support needed up there on Saturday.
“But we are confident we can pull it back in the second leg.
“Our lads are all fired up and ready to have a crack at that deficit.”
Bates added: “If we get off to a good start, then there’s no reason why we can’t but we won’t be able to throw away points.”
Tigers line-up: Stead, Poole, Lanham, Compton, Proctor, Nielsen, Bates.
Berwick line-up: Doolan, Bellego, Kus, Wethers, Vissing, Carr, Jensen.
