New Sheffield Tigers signing Arthur Sissis says he feels settled at the club already.

The Australian ace – who has a European passport thanks to close family – is taking his first steps as a full-time speedway rider with the Owlerton club.

He is a talented all-round motorcyclist and has decided to focus on the shale sport. Club bosses rate him highly.

Sissis will join up with his Tigers team mates at tonight’s press and practice session which starts at 5pm.

He will be based in Barnsley. sharing workshop facilities with Josh Bates and Ty Proctor.

He said: “I’ve known Neil Machin (former Sheffield owner) for a very long time.

“He’s watched me through the juniors, he’s wanted me to sign for a while now and I’m happy to be with Sheffield.

“I’ve had a fair few practice sessions over the winter, but I haven’t been on a senior bike too much apart from that so they’ve pretty much taken a gamble on what I’ve done as a junior but I’m feeling good and it will take a bit of time but I think I’m going to be fast.

“I’ve known Ty (Proctor) for a real long time and he’s helped me a lot.

“I met Josh (Bates) last year and we now share a workshop.

“From what I know about the team, I think they can all help me a lot and I think we can fight for some trophies and be up there with the other top guys.

“I’m really looking forward to it, it’s my first full season in senior speedway and I’m really excited.”

Sissis will be in attendance at Ricky Ashworth’s benefit meeting on Sunday and is hoping to get some practice laps in afterwards.

He will make his Tigers debut next Thursday, March 26, when they face Scunthorpe in their opening League Cup clash at Owlerton.
