Josh Grajczonek has vowed to thrill the crowds with a daredevil display when Somerset visit Owlerton in tomorrow’s free meeting (7.30).
Club officials have taken the bold move of throwing open the turnstiles free of charge for their first home action of the season against newly promoted Rebels.
And Grajczonek (inset) is relishing the prospect of his home debut.
“Fair play to the club for doing this” he said. “It just shows the ambition they have to win new supporters and we’re looking forward to a good night. A lot of promoters don’t do enough to promote the sport and this is a great idea from Sheffield, they’re so hard working and they deserve a big turnout. It’s down to us now to put on a show. I intend to wind it on and have some great racing.”
Grajczonek is looking forward to having Owlerton as his home track after making the switch during the winter. He said: “I’ve always enjoyed riding around this track and I’m so happy to be a Sheffield rider, it’s a move I have always fancied.
“It’s a great shape and you can really wind it on. The speed is awesome and we have a good team at Sheffield this year, there’s no reason why we can’t have a good season. I think I can up my average and score heaps of points. I really enjoyed having a skid around the place last week.”
The club have confirmed extra turnstiles will be open with a big crowd expected tomorrow and season ticket holders can enter through the side gate.
A special souvenir programme will also be on sale looking ahead to the new season.
