A star of last season’s Championship glory, Graversen returns as a replacement for back injury victim Josh Bates in a 28-day deal. He’ll be back in Tigers colours at Owlerton tomorrow when they face Peterborough in their opening Championship meeting of the season.

Co-promoter Damien Bates said: “We had to do something because we were a bit short without Josh and the rider replacement facility. It always puts pressure on riders when they have to take on more responsibility and it was starting to tell. Jan did a fine job for us although now he has to step up from reserve into the main body of the team which is never easy.

“I’m sure he can meet the challenge, though. He was disappointed when we couldn’t fit him into the side at the start of the season and he’s delighted to take the chance with us now.”

Bates added: “He was a match-winner for us more than once last season and I don’t expect him to be quite so prolific but he can do a solid job for us.

“If he can chip away with some useful scores then we’ll be pleased, whilst we won’t be looking for double figures I’m sure he’ll go for it.

“We’ll take another view of things at the end of the 28 days and see how things are working out. We are keeping all the lads on their toes because we were disappointed with the display at Newcastle on Sunday.

“We’re looking for a response against Peterborough. They’re a really good side and it will be a a tough meeting but it’s one we are looking forward to.”

The arrival of Graversen means Tigers will be back to a full seven-man team for the first time this season.
