SHEFFIELD know they face a huge test at Owlerton tonight against league favourites Somerset (7.45pm).
The new Tigers line-up were given problems last week by Rye House but expect an even sterner test with a powerful Rebels team looking for away points.
The Burnham-on-Sea club have lived up to their pre-season billing and indeed won at Owlerton last year, showing a liking for the circuit.
And Tigers owner Neil Machin knows his side face a big task. He said: “The Rebels will be coming here looking for a positive result and after winning here last year they will feel they can get it.
“They will revel in the wide open spaces at Owlertonwhich isn’t dissimilar to their own circuit. We have no room for error against a team full of fast gaters and big track specialists.”
Sheffield were given a mid-meeting talking to by team manager David Hoggart last week, and American star Ricky Wells knows that they need to up their game this week.
He said: “I spoke to Richard Hall earlier in the week and we were saying that we need to be on it because Somerset have an excellent team. We did okay against Rye House but it should have been more comfortable than it was.
“We can’t afford to be slow out of the starts tonight or we will be punished, it’s as simple as that. We are confident of getting a result but it is going be a tough one.”
