Sheffield Tigers have paid tribute to former owner Neil Machin for the part he played in bringing hot prospect Arthur Sissis to the club.
Sissis, 19, has turned his back on a promising Moto3 career to come to Owlerton and is set to move to Barnsley from his Australian base in February.
Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates said: “Neil Machin has vast contacts in Australia and goes there most winters, so we have to say big thanks to him.
“The reason Arthur knows all about Sheffield is because of Neil. They met a few years ago and have stayed in touch and it’s great to have him on board. It’s been a big decision for the lad because it’s a huge commitment to come over here and make a new life.
“But I rate him highly and he could prove to be the signing of the season in the Premier League. Neil has made it possible by paving the way and we’re delighted to welcome him to Sheffield. The team has a good shape about it now and we are almost there with the final two pieces of the jigsaw.”
Bates added: “These are exciting times for Sheffield fans and we’ve had some great feedback.”
Sissis joins Josh Bates, Ashley Birks, David Bellego and Simon Stead at Owlerton in 2015 which means only two places remain in what looks to be a powerful Premier League side
