TIGERS are in talks with Argentinean ace Facundo Albin and are close to agreeing a deal to bring him to Owlerton.

Albin, 20, rode as a wildcard in the World Under 21 rounds in his home country last month and scored four points in each meeting.

He is widely regarded as a bright prospect and always gives everything on the bike.

Hoggart said: “We’ve been in talks with Facundo for a while and I know the rumours have been doing the rounds.

“I can confirm we are very close to agreeing a deal with the rider and I hope we can make an announcement before the weekend.

“We always wanted to create a new-look team for next season and we want to bring some excitement back to the club. A rider like Facundo never knows when he’s beaten and always gives it everything he’s got.

“We are also in talks with Richard Hall and Ricky Wells and I would like to think we can conclude deals with those two riders soon.”

Sheffield have already confirmed the signings of Simon Stead, Joe Haines, Jake Knight and Damian Koppe.

Said Hoggart: “Bringing Simon in at the top of the team always meant we would have to have a solid middle order, we couldn’t go top heavy with a big hitter like Simon.

“I know people will look at the newcomers and worry that we’re taking a gamble and I guess we are in many ways, but we want to create a new era here at Sheffield Speedway and all our riders signed so far are desperate to make it a success.

“Last season was dreadful for many reasons and we are under some pressure to get it right in 2013. We know what a big season it is for the club and we will give it everything we can, both the riders and management.”
