SHEFFIELD joint team manager David Hoggart has praised the team behind the scenes that have contributed to their excellent recent form.

The Tigers completed an unlikely comeback last Thursday to beat league favourites Somerset and then beat Scunthorpe on their own track on Monday.

And Hoggart knows that it takes more than just seven riders to win meetings.

He said: “We have an excellent team behind the scenes who contribute greatly to what happens on the track. Jason Lyons is with Pepe Franc this year and he has been such a positive influence on the team in the pits. He is a great person to have on board and his advice is so valuable, especially to some of the younger guys in the side.

“Jason has seen everything there is to see and done it all, he knows all the tracks in the league and we couldn’t have anyone better in our corner.

“We have Richard Hall’s dad John too, who is always the first person to get stuck in when someone needs some help. Joel Parsons, who used to ride for us of course, is with us also and he is another great guy to have in your pits.

“There is a great spirit in the camp and that is invaluable. All the boys help each other, mechanics included, and that is exactly what you need if you are to be successful. Everyone comes together and it is a huge collective effort, without those sort of guys behind the scenes we wouldn’t get anywhere.”

Tomorrow Tigers host Workington, who beat them at Owlerton in May.
