Sheffield Tigers closing in on signing number three

Have your say

SHEFFIELD are in advanced negotiations with another rider who they expect to become their third 2013 signing.

The Tigers have had a quiet couple of weeks leading up to this weekend’s annual Promoter’s AGM but talks have been ongoing with a man who they hope to be able to announce as a Tiger in the coming days.

Team manager and promoter David Hoggart is pleased that it looks as if another piece of the jigsaw is in place: “We’ve been talking to this rider for a while now and it looks very much like he will be confirmed as our third rider for next year.

“I just want to tie up the last few things before we announce him but everything is pretty much done. I expect that we’ll be in a position to confirm the signing next week, and then that leaves us with four spaces left.

“The upcoming AGM is hugely important and amongst other things, it will have a bearing on our team-building. We’ll see what comes out of it and then move forward with our plans.”

Hoggart, meanwhile, has said that there are no further developments in the possible switch of race-night’s.

The Owlerton club have been in negotiations with their landlords about a potential move away from Thursday’s but those talks are still ongoing, says Hoggart; “There is nothing new to report on that front really. We’re still talking to them and trying to come up with a satisfactory solution for both parties.

“At the moment, a decision isn’t imminent and it could be a few more weeks until we know.

“We have an excellent working relationship so for us it’s just about coming to a deal that suits both, and that doesn’t always happen quickly! A lot of things are happening behind the scenes, we’re still working hard every day.”
