TIGERS have reaffirmed their commitment to the community by linking up with Sheffield Samaritans to raise awareness of the service they provide.

Club owner Neil Machin, joint-team manager Nigel Hinchliffe and Sheffield asset Jordan Tyrer visited the Samaritans headquarters on Queens Road on Sunday to help to make the public more aware of the service provided by the charity.

Sheffield have a healthy relationship with the charity, which has over 200 branches across Britain.

Machin said: “The Samaritans is a fantastic charity and it was great to try and give some assistance to their quest in raising awareness.

“Jordan brought his bike down and it was good to see the work that goes on, and it really is invaluable. We’ve had a relationship with the Samaritans for some years now and it stems from a conversation I had with one of our heat sponsors.

“Our sponsor Ayudar supply telephone lines to the Samaritans, which is where our link-up came from. We try to pride ourselves on being more than just a speedway club. We are always keen to get into the local community.”

Sheffield launch a busy month which will make or break their Premier League hopes when they face Glasgow at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45).

They face six meetings throughout August as the race for the top six and a play-off place reaches the business end of the season.
