SHEFFIELD have completed the signing of Argentinian Facundo Albin.
Albin, 20, will join Simon Stead, Joe Haines, Damien Koppe and Jake Knight in a revamped Owlerton side.
And Tigers boss David Hoggart has revealed how Albin looked destined for Berwick until the Bandits had a change of heart.
It will be Albin’s first season in British racing and he made two appearances in the World U21 Final last month.
Said Hoggart: “Facundo rode over here last year and did well enough for a wave of Premier and Elite League clubs to be interested in him. It looked as though he was on the way to Berwick but when he became available we made a move and we were fortunate to have secured his signature. He is a rider with potential.
“We needed to rebuild the club after losing so many riders at the end of 2011 and that’s something that will take longer than a season, so we’re pleased to have youngsters like Facundo, Koppe and Knight on board already.”
Albin is one of his country’s biggest hopes for the future at a time when Argentina is becoming established onto the speedway map following their staging of two U21 Final rounds in November.
Tigers have Richard Hall and Ricky Wells on the radar.
